The Cattaraugus County Business Development Corporation (CCBDC), a nonprofit business development service, will offer a ‘stepped up’ or concentrated version of its comprehensive, multi-week entrepreneurial training program later this Spring in the CCBDC office complex at 214 Main Street in Little Valley.

The CCBDC training program, “Business Basics,” is usually provided on a one evening per week basis over a five week period. Beginning on Tuesday, May 25th, the CCBDC will offer a compressed version of its five week series over a two-week period by conducting three hour morning sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The last session will be on Thursday, June 3rd. The training will feature instruction and casework study focusing on the essential elements and best practices approaches for operating a small business in today’s challenging economy.

All sessions will be taught by CCBDC business development professionals and held in the newly renovated upper level training room in the agency’s Little Valley office at 214 Main Street.

The CCBDC business start-up training class series is open to persons interested in starting a business in Cattaraugus County. Participants will learn how to write a business plan, develop a selling perspective, and understand the basics of business accounting, employee relations, pricing, filing, and reporting requirements.

Participation in the CCBDC “Business Basics” training program can help determine eligibility for securing up to $30,000 of loan assistance from the Cattaraugus County Microenterprise Development Loan Program, a revolving loan program administered by the CCBDC. In 2009, the agency provided over $400,000 in low interest loan assistance to Cattaraugus County entrepreneurs.

Those interested in participating in CCBDC’s Little Valley business school are encouraged to sign up promptly by contacting Laurie Andrews of the CCBDC at: (716) 938-9531, Extension 11, or register online. Tuition for the session is $50.00 per person with payment made either in advance or at the class.
